iWalks launches in Dublin

Dublin Tourism is launching the first in a series of ‘podcasts’ or audio guides - which have become the latest hot topic in travel. Dublin Tourism is one of the first European tourism organisations to use this inspirational marketing tool to attract visitors to its website and provide an easy way of touring the city.

Two podcasts, or “iWalks”, are now downloadable from the website - www.visitdublin.com, onto an iPod or MP3 player.

The “iWalks” tell the story of Dublin in a series of twelve themes and are narrated by Irish historian and artist, Pat Liddy. The first two that are now available are ‘Georgian Dublin’ and ‘The Historic Northside’.

The iWalks are free to download and can be regularly updated with fresh information.  Dublin Tourism predict that these podcasts will prove to be extremely popular in the future as generic themes have been abandoned in favour of podcasts that are specific to visitor’s interests, eg Literary Dublin, Georgian Dublin.

The iWalks are accompanied by a brochure and map in pdf format that can also be downloaded from the website, or picked up in any tourist office in Dublin.  The brochure also contains illustrations by the author, Pat Liddy.
