Cosmoprof drives Thai spa market

Thailand is set to participate at Cosmoprof 2006 where it will be launching a brand new project, tailored to launch the concept of the Thai spa on the international stage in Bologna.
Massage oils, perfumed soaps and aromatherapy oils will fill the Thai stands, offering buyers and visitors an opportunity to come into contact with the culture, the colours and the perfumes typical of Thailand. Live demonstrations of massage techniques and treatments will introduce them to a unique new experience in the world and tradition of wellness, a tradition that has deep, well-established roots in Thailand.

In 2004 Thailand exported cosmetics worth a total of nearly 450 million Euros, mostly towards Japan, the Asia-Pacific region, Australia and the United States. Italy is also a growth market for Thailand (in 2004, Italy imported cosmetic products from Thailand worth a total of about one million Euros).

Thailand’s presence at the Cosmoprof will be co-ordinated by the Department of Export Promotion at the Thai Ministry of Trade, which operates in Italy through the Thai Trade Centre in Milan.

“The participation of a national group from Thailand in the fair is a demonstration of our intention to grow in the European market,” stated Duangkamol Jiambutr, Director of the Thai Trade Centre in Milan. “Thai cosmetics have been a byword for quality in Asia and America for years: we are happy to have the opportunity to present the particular properties of our products and our tradition to European and especially Italian consumers. We are sure that visitors and buyers will be pleased to welcome the new ideas we have to propose.”

“We are living in a time when the concepts of the spa and wellness are taking a firm hold, becoming focal points of our everyday lives that we are no longer prepared to do without. We are very pleased to welcome this interesting initiative on the part of the Thai national stand at the Cosmoprof”, concluded Florio Terenzi, President of SoGeCos.
