Skyservice launches Carib flights

Skyservice Airlines inaugurated direct charter airline service from Kitchener-Waterloo Regional Airport to Sun Destination, Varadero, Cuba. Direct charter service to Cancun, Mexico will commence on December 29, 2005.

The new service, operated in partnership with Sunquest Vacations will operate once a week to each destination, on an Airbus A320 aircraft.

These flights will feature Skyservice’s renowned in-flight service, including hot meals and in-flight entertainment.

In conjunction with Signature Vacations, Skyservice will commence direct weekly charter service to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and Cancun, Mexico, commencing December 26, 2005 and February 3, 2006, respectively.

“Over the years Skyservice Airlines has demonstrated its ability to serve the local communities with direct jet service to Sun Destinations throughout the Caribbean and Mexico. The start of this service from the Kitchener-Waterloo Regional Airport gives Sunquest Vacations and Signature Vacations the ability to provide convenient service to Sun Destinations. These seasonal charter flights from regional airports throughout Canada provides Skyservice and its tour and travel partners with increased opportunities, and strengthens Canada’s overall international air presence,” said Rob Giguere, President and COO of Skyservice.

“We have many years of experience flying charter flights to a number of Sun destinations and we look forward to quickly establishing departures from the Kitchener-Waterloo airport as a popular choice for travelers.”

Giguere emphasized that the new service, the first from the regional airport for the Toronto-based airline, will complement the existing range of services offered by his carrier.

“We shall continue to work with our partners in support of their all- inclusive products that are already in the marketplace,” he said.

“The addition of Kitchener-Waterloo to our network provides more opportunities to our partners and offers exciting vacation experiences for travelers.”

Skyservice Airlines carries over one million passengers annually and currently operates a fleet of 27 aircraft including Airbus A-319s, A-320s, Boeing B-757s and B-767s to popular vacation destinations in Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, Mexico and Europe.

In addition to its current fleet, Skyservice will be introducing an Airbus A330 aircraft in May 2006 to serve its European destinations.
