Bombardier sale on the Horizon
Horizon Air today has announced an order for 12 additional Q400 high-speed turboprops from Bombardier Aerospace of Canada in a deal likely to be worth nearly $300 million. The order includes converting seven firm orders for the CRJ-700 regional jet to the Q400 and five additional Q400s. Delivery of the new Q400s is scheduled to begin in late 2006 and continue through the first half of 2007. Horizon will take delivery of its one remaining CRJ-700 order in the spring of 2006.
“The addition of these aircraft will allow us to shore up our presence in our traditional markets and increase the proportion of larger, younger and more fuel-efficient aircraft in our fleet, which customers prefer,” said Jeff Pinneo, Horizon’s president and CEO.
