Accor add two in Phuket

Accor
is to manage two new hotels in Phuket, Thailand. The new Mercure Patong and Grand Mercure Karon will join the existing Accor hotels in Phuket, the Novotel Phuket and Novotel Resort Panwa Beach.
The low-rise Mercure Patong will be located in the heart of the Patong Beach shopping and entertainment strip, with most rooms overlooking the attractive pool and garden area. The 245-room hotel will feature two pools, two restaurants and bars plus a health and fitness centre with spa and extensive meeting and convention facilities. The Mercure is scheduled to open in the 3rd quarter of 2007.

Built on a hill overlooking a large lake, the 300-room Grand Mercure Karon will offer villa-style accommodation with panoramic vistas of beautiful Karon Bay. The 41/2 star hotel will boast two pools, two restaurants and two bars, as well as a ballroom, meeting rooms and business centre. Shopping and a wide range of entertainment are just a short walk from the hotel. The Grand Mercure is scheduled to open in the final quarter of 2007.

The new hotels will be complemented by two exclusive island resorts in the area. A Sofitel is being developed on Krabi that is due for completion in mid-2006. The low-rise hotel is being constructed on a hillside overlooking Klong Muang Beach and numerous limestone islands. Sofitel Phokeethra Krabi is located 15km from Krabi Town and 35 minutes from Krabi Airport.
