Starwood Celebrates Salta Opening
Starwood Hotels & Resorts announces the grand opening of the Sheraton Salta, the first international hotel in the historic city of Salta, Argentina. The newly built hotel is located in the city’s upscale residential area of Monumento, just a few blocks away from the district’s main square. The Sheraton Salta is Starwood’s eighth property to open in Argentina and further strengthens the hotel giant’s presence in South America. The hotel is owned by Complejo Monumento Guemes S.A. and will be managed by Starwood.
“Salta is one of Argentina’s most scenic and historic cities and attracts an average of 700,000 visitors per year,” said Osvaldo Librizzi, President of Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Latin America. “We are thrilled to have a Sheraton hotel in this key city, which will serve as a major destination for both business travelers and international tourists.”
The Sheraton Salta will be the first internationally branded hotel in Salta, a primary destination for tourists attracted to its recreational, historical and cultural attractions reminiscent of the American Southwest. The area is noted for its Spanish-colonial era buildings and outstanding vineyards and is home to San Antonio de los Cobres (The Train to the Clouds) at 13,840 feet above sea level considered to be the highest railroad in the world.
The province of Salta offers natural scenic landscapes featuring plains, mountains and valleys, ranging from the majestic heights of the Andes, with its peaks and volcanoes, to the lower sierras and plains with its lush vegetation.
The 145-room Sheraton Salta features six executive suites, three luxury suites and a Presidential suite. Guestrooms offer panoramic views of the city, the Lerma River Valley and the Andes. All guestrooms will be equipped with the brand’s signature Sheraton Sweet Sleeper Bed and will include two phone lines and high-speed Internet access For corporate and business events, the hotel features over 4,500 square feet of flexible meeting space and a fully equipped business center.
Dining options include a gourmet restaurant serving regional and local Argentine cuisine, a buffet-style restaurant and lobby bar. The outdoor swimming pool features a Jacuzzi offering spectacular mountain views, a sun deck, and a poolside snack bar. Additional guest services include a spa, sauna and a fitness center.
