Interstate to Manage Myrtle Beach Hotel

Interstate Hotels & Resorts today announced that it has signed a management contract to operate the 402-room Radisson Plaza Hotel Myrtle Beach Convention Center. Interstate will assume management on September 28, 2005, and immediately convert the hotel to the Sheraton flag. The hotel’s new name will be Sheraton Myrtle Beach Convention Center Hotel.
“This two-year-old hotel is in great physical condition, and we believe it will benefit significantly from our aggressive management style and participation in the Sheraton system,” said Thomas F. Hewitt, Interstate chief executive officer. “We have extensive expertise in operating convention- and meeting-oriented hotels, and already are marshalling our regional and national sales teams to provide immediate support.”
The Sheraton Myrtle Beach Convention Center Hotel is located at 2101 North Oak, three blocks from the Atlantic Ocean, and is connected directly to the 250,000-square-foot Myrtle Beach Convention Center. The adjacent convention center offers 17 meeting rooms, a 17,000 square-foot grand ballroom and a 100,000-square-foot exhibition hall, which can accommodate conventions and meetings for up to 10,000 people.
“The property is just three blocks from Broadway by the Beach, the city’s prime retail, entertainment and restaurant complex,” General Manager Suzanne Hinde noted. “The weather in Myrtle Beach creates an ideal destination for meetings year-round. The area offers more than 100 golf courses, beautiful beaches and nature preserves, as well as numerous other attractions.”
The hotel features an indoor swimming pool and hot tub, fitness center and a full-service, upscale restaurant. Guest rooms will feature all of the brand’s signature amenities, including the Sheraton Sweet Sleeper bed, high-speed Internet access and oversized desks. Guests can participate in the Starwood Preferred Guest program.
