Malev Scores High Marks

A survey from Europe’s busiest airport hub has voted East European and Asian airlines top when it comes to comfort, on-board services and catering. Results from a survey by a Dutch online travel agency and reported in the Dutch daily Algemeen Dagblad found Malev Hungarian Airlines number one for short haul flights, beating off competition from a number of leading airlines including British Airways and Lufthansa.

The survey, at www.vliegtarieven.nl looked at short haul (up to 3000km) and long haul flights and gave Malev top marks in a number of categories, including service onboard and catering. The vast majority (95%) of Malev’s route network consists of flights within a range of 3000km.

UK country manager Doros Theodorou for Malev Hungarian Airlines said the result demonstrated the value Dutch travellers placed on Malev and was a positive indicator to them of their high standard of service.

“When you consider that every European airline flies in and out of Amsterdam, we are very pleased to have achieved this status”, he said.

Malev Hungarian Airlines flies to over 60 destinations worldwide from its Budapest hub and operates scheduled, full frills daily flights from Stansted to Budapest from just £84pp, and double daily flights from Heathrow to Budapest from just £88pp, inclusive of taxes and charges. The airline currently boasts the youngest fleet of Boeings of any airline in Europe and was last year voted ‘Airline of the year’ by Hungarian travel agencies.
