American Airlines announced
today it has applied to the U.S. Department of Transportation to offer new
nonstop service from Lambert St. Louis International Airport to Puerto
Vallarta, Mexico, from Feb. 4 to April 1, 2006.  The new winter season-only
flight would operate on Saturdays.  It would complement American’s existing
seasonal service from St. Louis to Cancun, Mexico, which features flights on
both Saturday and Sunday.  The Cancun flights will resume on Oct. 30.
American also offers daily connecting service to both destinations through its
DFW hub.“We know Midwesterners are always eager to leave the cold and gray winter
days behind and take trips to sunny and warm Mexico in the winter,” said
Loretta Kuss, American’s Regional Manager Passenger Sales - St. Louis.  “This
flight should be just the prescription to cure the winter blahs.”
