IHG Wins Management Deal
The InterContinental Hotels Group has been appointment by DRB-HICOM Berhad through one of its subsidiaries, Horsdale Development Sdn Bhd, to manage the Holiday Inn Glenmarie Kuala Lumpur.
The hotel, currently known as the Pan Pacific Glenmarie Kuala Lumpur, will join more than 80 Holiday Inn hotels and resorts across Asia Pacific from 1 October 2005. The eighth addition to the Group’s portfolio in Malaysia, the Holiday Inn Glenmarie Kuala Lumpur is ideally located in the heart of the business and commercial hubs of Subang, Shah Alam and Petaling Jaya.
DRB-HICOM Berhad is one of Malaysia’s leading conglomerates with diversified interests including property development and construction, automotive manufacturing and distribution, as well as services. The conglomerate has the same controlling shareholder as Tradewinds Hotels & Resorts Berhad, which owns two of the hotels that InterContinental Hotels Group manages including Crowne Plaza Mutiara Penang and Mutiara Penang, which will be re-branded to the InterContinental Resort Penang next year after refurbishment.
Said Encik Amir Salleh, Group Director, Property and Construction, DRB-HICOM Berhad, “We are very pleased to be associated with such a powerful brand as Holiday Inn, which is recognised worldwide and has an extensive global reach. Following the successful launch of the Crowne Plaza Mutiara Kuala Lumpur by the InterContinental Hotels Group late last year, the re-introduction of Holiday Inn to Kuala Lumpur has come at a very opportune time. We are confident that leveraging InterContinental Hotels Group’s hotel management expertise and global infrastructure resources in marketing, brand management and reservations will provide the necessary visibility to make Holiday Inn Glenmarie Kuala Lumpur an outstanding success.”
Featuring 264 guest rooms, the Holiday Inn Glenmarie Kuala Lumpur is an integral part of the Glenmarie Golf and Country Club, a complex situated on a 350-acre expanse of land. Set amidst lush tropical greenery, the hotel overlooks two of the finest 18-hole golf courses in Malaysia.
The hotel is slated to undergo a progressive refurbishment programme over the next 12 months.
