Malev Hungarian Airlines’ UK online booking service has already hit the £1 million sales milestone since the beginning of 2005.
The airline has seen online sales increase dramatically in the UK since the introduction of the booking engine in June 04, aided mainly by its creative online marketing strategy. In 2004, direct bookings averaged 15% of Malev’s total UK sales. So far, 2005 has seen this figure increase to 25% and it is fully expected to rise.

As well as a rise in bookings to the Hungarian capital of Budapest, Malev has seen an increase in sales to onward sixth freedom destinations - with bookings on the up to Tirana, Sofia, Bourgas, Varna, Pristina and Bucharest in particular.

Doros Theodorou, Country Manager UK says, “The online booking engine has finally given us the distribution channel that we were missing, enabling us to lower our CRS costs while increasing bookings”.

Malev Hungarian Airlines now flies to over 60 destinations worldwide from its Budapest hub and operates affordable, full frills daily flights from Stansted to Budapest from just £84pp and double daily from Heathrow to Budapest from just £88pp, inclusive of taxes and charges. The airline currently boasts the youngest fleet of Boeings of any airline in Europe.
