Oman in Dubai Air Show Debut

Oman will be represented for the first time at a Dubai air show this year when Dahra Logistics & Marketing L.L.C., a regional aircraft spares supplier, takes part in Dubai 2005, the ninth international aerospace exhibition.
Dahra says that the UAE’s aviation market will see enormous growth over the next decade and is soon to launch operations in Dubai to tap into the market’s exponential potential.
Ê
“Already new airlines such as Air Arabia and Etihad are growing fast, particularly the low-cost airline model has massive potential and many no-frills operators will start operating from the GCC catering to the needs of passengers from Asian countries,” said Khamis Obaid Mubarak Al-Ajmi, CEO, Dahra Logistics & Marketing.
Ê
Dahra’s Dubai office is expected to launch in April next year to complement the company’s international presence which includes market research and liaison offices in the UK and the USA.
Ê
Al-Ajmi says that this projected growth is set to double his company’s business, forecasting contracts worth US$ four million for 2006.
Ê
“We currently provide services to Oman-based companies such as the Royal Air Force of Oman, Oman Air, Royal Oman Police and the Royal Flight, but the GCC’s aviation industry growth will soon enable us to expand our operations across the region,” said Al Ajmi.
Ê
“Our Dubai 2005 participation is aimed at giving us exposure to the global industry and the opportunity to meet and establish contacts with aviation chiefs and decision makers from the region and beyond.”
Ê
Oman is the GCC’s fifth country to be represented in Dubai 2005, following confirmations from companies from Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Companies from Jordan and Lebanon have also committed to the show.
Ê
“Oman’s Dubai air show debut signals a significant milestone as it’s a clear indication that the region’s aviation industry development is expanding in size and scope,” said Clive Richardson, CEO, Aerospace Division, Fairs & Exhibitions (F&E), which organises the Dubai air show.
Ê
“The Sultanate’s aviation sector has come a long way and we look forward to welcoming Dahra Logistics & Marketing to Dubai as the event’s first ever Omani participant.”
Ê
Currently exhibitors from 39 countries have confirmed participation in Dubai 2005, which also has commitments for 13 national and industry pavilions.
Ê
Dubai 2005 is organised by F&E in conjunction with the Department of Civil Aviation, Government of Dubai and in collaboration with the UAE Armed Forces.
