Mandara Spa Asia Opens New Spa

Mandara Spa Asia opened their newest Malaysian spa, Body Senses by Mandara, in June 2005 at The Pacific Sutera Hotel in Kota Kinabalu.
Mandara Spa has been operating at The Magellan Sutera Hotel - sister property to The Pacific Sutera Hotel and part of the Sutera Harbour Resort destination - since October 1999.  More recently, they began offering a small massage menu in basic treatment rooms at The Pacific Sutera Hotel.  The decision to invest in a spa facility at The Pacific Sutera Hotel was influenced by the resort’s philosophy of ‘one resort, two personalities’.  Mandara Spa wanted to mirror that philosophy by providing two contrasting spa experiences within the resort.

Where Mandara Spa at The Magellan Sutera Hotel is skewed towards couples and women with themes of exotic indulgence, tradition and romance, Body Senses by Mandara takes a fresh and contemporary approach to appeal to business travellers, club members and male guests.  The two spas are open to guests from both hotels, with cross-signing privileges available, allowing for a better range of treatment and experience options.

The Body Senses décor is modern simplicity with an androgynous appeal.  Design elements include stonework features, strategic lighting, neutral tones, light timbers, frosted glass and mirrors.  It’s mostly clean lines, softened by the occasional voluptuous curve in walls and furniture.

Body Senses by Mandara offers two double Suites, one double room, five single rooms and an adjoining gymnasium.  The two double Suites feature indoor shower and outdoor Jacuzzi, primarily to cater to couples opting for spa combination packages.  Floor to ceiling windows, with frosted glass privacy panels, invite an abundance of natural light into most of the spa rooms.

The menu at Body Senses by Mandara features several massage options, including Aromatherapy Massage, Muscle Ease, Express Massage and The Zone (based on Reflexology), the anti-oxidant rich Natural Defence Facial and a collection of packages designed for him and her to share.  There is also a selection of ‘designed for men’ treatments, including the deep cleansing Purifying Facial.

Mandara Spa has gone one step further to differentiate the two Sutera Harbour spas by introducing new menu items at the Magellan’s Mandara Spa.  The menu now includes Warm Stone Massage, Ocean Detox Wrap, Pure Nature Facial and a selection of new combination packages designed to create a romantic spa experience for couples.

The spa upgrade at Sutera Harbour Resort is still not complete.  The next stage will see a refurbishment of the Mandara Spa at The Magellan Sutera Hotel.

In addition to the two spas, guests and members at Sutera Harbour Resort have a variety of wellness and lifestyle activities available to them.  There is water skiing, ocean kayaking, windsurfing, sailing, personal training, yoga, tennis, golf, white water rafting, scuba diving, mountain climbs and treks.

The Pacific Sutera Hotel and The Magellan Sutera Hotel are located at Sutera Harbour Resort, a wonderfully integrated world of pleasure and relaxation, sprawling on the shores of the South China Sea at the tip of exotic Borneo.  Billed as the premier address to live, work, meet and play it offers luxury accommodation and easy access to a host of relaxation, sporting, entertainment and culinary holiday options including five swimming pools, two fitness centres, a 12-lane tenpin bowling alley, 14 courts for three different sports and a 27-hole championship golf course.
