Work Starts on Rocco Forte Munich

Sir Rocco Forte was in Munich this month to help lay the foundation stone for the Lenbach Gärten site, at the heart of which a new luxury Rocco Forte Hotels property will be built. Frankonia Eurobau AG & Co.KG is funding and managing the construction of the hotel, which - when completed - will be leased to Rocco Forte Hotels.
Lenbach Gärten is located in the heart of the Bavarian city, close to both the commercial and shopping districts, yet on the edge of the Botanical Gardens, thus providing guests with peace and tranquillity. The site comprises office buildings, exclusive loft apartments, a small square and a few retail outlets. Construction is due to finish in spring 2007.

The eight-storey, Euros 71.5 million hotel will have 160 rooms, including 28 suites, as well as a restaurant with two private dining rooms, a bar, a health centre with gym, swimming pool, sauna and treatment rooms, and eight meeting rooms, including a ballroom that will accommodate almost 400 people for a cocktail reception. Olga Polizzi, Rocco Forte Hotels Director of Design, will oversee the styling of the hotel’s interiors.

Sir Rocco Forte, Chairman and Chief Executive of Rocco Forte Hotels, said: “We are delighted to have a property under construction in the historic, cosmopolitan city of Munich and are very pleased to be working with Frankonia in the creation of what will become the city’s No.1 hotel.

“The hotel here fits perfectly with our plan to build a luxury collection of hotels in the key cities of Europe, three of which are in Germany. Once finished, I believe the hotel will be the most stylish and best-located property in Munich.”

The Rocco Forte Hotels currently under development in Germany are Villa Kennedy in Frankfurt, Hotel de Rome in Berlin and the property in Munich, which has yet to be named. Once complete, the hotels will give Rocco Forte Hotels a prominent position in the luxury hotel market in Germany.
