British Travellers Seek Refuge in Short Break Sun
British holidaymakers anticipating a month of showers made Europe’s sunniest spots their most popular short-break destinations in April according to figures released by Cheapholidaydeals.co.uk.
Costa del Sol and Ibiza shone in the top 10 of searched for short break destinations, at the expense of traditional favourites including Budapest and Amsterdam.
Spanish resort Costa del Sol was April’s sixth favourite hot spot for breaks under six nights according to Cheapholidaydeals.co.uk, leaping 11 places from March. The Balearic island of Ibiza jumped 17 places as the sunshine season kicked off, taking eighth position ahead of Venice, Dublin and Tallinn.
Greek resorts saw their popularity boosted in April for holidays over six-nights long, with Crete, Zante and Corfu climbing the list of researched packaged holidays.
Liz Faherty, Cheapholidaydeals.co.uk director of business development said: “After months of cold and damp weather Brits are turning to the short-haul beach destinations for a quick, tan-topping break.
“Resorts which have traditionally been the preserve of one- and two-week holidays are now being considered for long weekends as British travellers become adept at hunting down fantastic deals on the internet.”
