American Express Business Travel has launched a new corporate online solution which has been designed specifically to address the unique needs of the Chinese market. The new solution, American Express Online, will allow both multinational corporations operating in China and local Chinese companies to realize the cost-savings, convenience and control that online travel management can deliver.
The use of online booking tools is becoming commonplace around the world, according to the American Express International Business Traveler survey. Of the respondents surveyed, 61 percent of business travelers worldwide have booked travel online over the past twelve months. The use of online booking is also rising in China - 64 percent of Chinese travelers booked more business trips online over the past twelve months as compared to the previous twelve month period.
“Just like their counterparts worldwide, China-based companies are eager to realize the cost-savings and efficiency that come from corporate online booking,” said Pierric Beckert, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Japan, Asia-Pacific and Australia region at American Express. “The explosive growth of the business travel market in China has further fueled interest in online travel management. American Express Online will help the Chinese market convert that interest into reality, in the same way American Express has spearheaded the expansion of online booking in many other countries around the world.”
American Express and TravelSky Technology Limited have also announced a strategic partnership to guarantee content access over the next three years. TravelSky will become the exclusive GDS partner for all American Express operations in China.
