New InterConti Spa Resort to Open in Bora Bora
Accessible only by boat, this secluded beach near Motu Reef in Bora
Bora will be home to the new InterContinental Resort & Thalasso Spa
Bora Bora when it opens in May 2006. The exclusive new enclave, an
investment of nearly US$70 million, will showcase 80 sumptuous
over-water bungalows, eight of which boast views of Mount Otemanau.
The resort will combine modern architecture with the authenticity of
local arts, crafts and culture as well as traditional materials. An
environmentally friendly resort, it will extract ocean water from a
depth of 2,500 feet in order to use in the air conditioning system.
This one-of-a-kind air conditioning system will utilize fresh seawater
siphoned from the profound depths of the ocean to cool the air and
eliminate the use of hazardous carbons that pollute the atmosphere.
The water will also be a signature element of the Moana Spa, a
Thalassotherapy and Balneotherapy center designed by Dr. Tregger,
internationally celebrated for conceptualizing the design of Monaco’s
thermal baths.
The resort will be run by General Manager Silvio Bion who has been responsible for the continuing success of the InterContinental Resort & Spa
Moorea.
InterContinental Resort & Spa Bora Bora will be the fourth resort in
the portfolio of InterContinental French Polynesia resorts and the
second InterContinental resort on Bora Bora.
