La Quinta Boosts Company-Owned Hotels

Dallas-based La Quinta Corporation and
Encino, California-based Sleepwell Laboratories announced the companies
have reached an agreement to introduce Sleepwell’s state of the art sleep
labs into company-owned La Quinta and Baymont hotels in select markets
around the country. They also announced that the first sleep lab to open
in a La Quinta is operational at the La Quinta Inns & Suites Phoenix Mesa
West, 902 West Grove Avenue, Mesa, Arizona. The Phoenix sleep lab has
already provided sleep testing to dozens of Phoenix-area residents—and
in the process, opened new revenue opportunities for the hotel. Wayne Goldberg, Executive Vice President of Operations for La Quinta, said
the agreement with Sleepwell “represents a new and innovative way of
thinking about inventory management and revenue-generation in local hotel
markets.” He continued, “The excitement generated by the opening of the
Phoenix sleep facility indicates that the marriage between hotels and
sleep centers is an idea whose time has come.”

With more than 70 million Americans suffering from sleep disorders.
Sleepwell establishes and operates hotel-based testing facilities that
diagnose and treat such disorders. While sleep diagnostic centers have
traditionally been located in office buildings or hospitals, Sleepwell
utilizes the clean, quiet, amenity-rich environment of first-class hotels
to provide patients with a comfortable, friendly location for an overnight
sleep test.

Hosting a Sleepwell facility offers significant benefits for the host
hotel, including higher revenues with increased occupancy; free local
advertising, positive word-of-mouth and increased foot traffic in the
community; long-term room commitments from a solid company in a growing
industry, and labor savings as a result of reduced housekeeping costs.

Sleepwell President and Chief Executive Officer David Kaye said, “We are
delighted to be working with La Quinta, one of the industry’s leading
companies, to introduce the Sleepwell concept to the industry—and we
are confident others will soon benefit from the opportunities Sleepwell
provides.” He concluded, “Offering long-term leases, enhanced revenue
streams and cost- savings, we look forward to making a lasting impact for
hoteliers and hotel companies across the country.”

In addition to the La Quinta location in Mesa, the company operates sleep
lab facilities in Portland, Oregon, Houston, Texas, and Salt Lake City,
Utah. Through innovative long-term lease agreements for ten rooms or more,
hotels benefit via increased occupancy and guaranteed revenue streams for
five years or more.
