T&T have strong presence at ITB

Senator the Honourable Howard Chin Lee, Minister of Tourism will lead the 26 member Trinidad and Tobago delegation at the International Tourism Exchange Trade Fair in Berlin (ITB), Germany.
Running from March 11-15, ITB Berlin is the most important platform anywhere in the world for the tourism industry, attracting over 10,000 exhibitors from over 180 countries and regions.

Minister Chin Lee noted that “ITB has proven to be an excellent forum for showcasing the tourism product of Trinidad and Tobago, offering invaluable networking opportunities.”

The Trinidad and Tobago delegation includes Councillor Neil Wilson, Tobago House of Assembly’s Secretary of Tourism, Vishnu Dhanpaul, President (Ag.) of TIDCO, as well as hoteliers, ground tour operators and various other representatives of our local tourism service areas.

The delegation will meet with various European based airline
and tour operators with a view to stimulating awareness of Trinidad and Tobago, especially Tobago as a prime leisure product with direct access. Hotel booking contracts for the upcoming winter season and airlift issues will also be discussed with operators.

On Saturday March 12, Trinidad and Tobago will be host to 25 key journalists at a Media Promotional Event in order to maximise the opportunity for international press and media coverage of the destination.

It was at ITB 2004 that additional airlift to Tobago was secured via Lauda Airlines of Austria, which now provides a weekly service from Vienna. The European market is one of the main source regions for visitors to Trinidad and Tobago.

Indeed the UK and Germany accounted for 69% of air arrivals into Tobago in 2004.
