Oates Appointed at Mayfair Hotel

Cara A. Oates has been named Director of Catering
at the Mayfair Hotel & Spa in Coconut Grove, FL.  Oates will oversee the
marketing of catering events and further establish the hotel as one of South
Florida’s finest reception and banquet venues.“Cara has an extensive background in the hospitality industry that includes
marketing, management and client and guest relations. She brings a passion
to her work, one that will infuse new energy into our catering and special
events arena,” stated Colin McBeath, general manager of the Mayfair Hotel &
Spa. “Cara has a proven track record in both management and sales for
corporate, convention and social events.  She will be a key member of our
food and beverage team and a crucial component in helping us to achieve our
company goals and objectives.” 

Oates has more than 16 years of experience in the hospitality industry.
Prior to joining the Mayfair, Oates most recently held the position of
Regional Director of Sales for China Grill Management restaurants in New
York City, where she developed sales for such well-known restaurants as
China Grill, Asia de Cuba, Tuscan, Hudson Cafeteria, Mix in NY, ONO at the
Hotel Gansevoort and Pure Food and Wine. Still, Oates found the opportunity
to work for the Mayfair Hotel & Spa and return to the warmth and excitement
of South Florida where she began her career, too enticing to pass up.

Oates’ responsibilities at the Mayfair Hotel & Spa will include developing
and branding the hotel’s food and beverage image, planning and executing
events for the convention, corporate, association, incentive and social
markets and overseeing all sales and marketing initiatives. She will also

Throughout her career, Oates has worked at top restaurants and hotels in
Florida and New York.  She recently spent two years as Corporate Convention
Sales Manager for Planet Hollywood where she oversaw such spectacular events
as: the 2002 NFL Kickoff Party in Times Square with over 1,200 guests;
opening parties for Broadway shows such as Rent, starring Joey Fatone, Say
Goodnight Gracie, and Tom Sawyer; and the Crossroads movie premiere starring
Britney Spears.
