Landings set to break ground November 2005

Excitement abounds in St. Lucia as The Landings, a US$165 million villa resort development on the north shore of Rodney Bay here, is scheduled to commence construction this coming November with the first phase penned to open in Feb. 2007.Spanning 19-acres the waterfront site is reported to include yacht moorings and slips; a beach club; water sports facilities; a lounge; helicopter transfers to/from major airports and nearby islands; a restaurant; a fitness club and a spa; concierge services; swimming pools; tennis courts; and a reception area, as well as 500 rooms in 228 one-, two- and three-bedroom villa units.

Travel Weekly reports that Chairman of The Landings« board of directors is Craig Barnard, head of St. Lucia-based Sunswept Resorts, which includes the Body Holiday at LeSport and Rendezvous St. Lucia. Sunswept will manage The Landings.

Properties at The Landings will provide accommodations for some of the 40,000 visitors expected to attend the 2007 World Cricket Cup matches, which will be held at Beausejour, St. Lucia«s new cricket ground.
