Fairmont Hotels & Resorts recently appointed Desmond Acheson as General Manager, The Fairmont Miramar Hotel Santa Monica effective immediately. Mr. Acheson has been Acting General Manager at the property since September 2004.
Mr. Acheson joined Fairmont Hotels & Resorts in 2001 as Hotel Manager, The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess. His extensive career in hospitality began in the late 1970’s with London’s Claridges and Savoy Hotels. Prior to that, he held various positions with Four Seasons, Pan Pacific and Regent International Hotels & Resorts in Calgary, Vancouver, Hong Kong and Bangkok from 1980 through 1994.

From 1995 - 2001, Mr. Acheson served as General Manager with Pan Pacific Hotels, including the opening of the new Pan Pacific Lodge in Whistler and The Pan Pacific Hotel Manila.

Mr. Acheson received his Hotel Management Degree in 1976 from University of Ulster in N. Ireland, Britain. ÊIn 2001, he completed Cornell University General Managers’ Program.
