Cruise passengers to St. Kitts in Feb. could near 50,000

St. Kitts was in jubilant mood last week as the grand dame of the oceans, Queen Mary II, pulled into the island nations waters, bringing with her some 2,600 passengers. The 150,00 ton vessel made St. Kitts its port of call last Wednesday, Feb. 2.

The legendary ship was not the only cruise liner to dock at the port of Basseterre. She was joined by the Constellation and its 1,950 passengers, the Sun Bird with 1,500, the Aida Vita with 1,582 passengers and the MS Sun Princess, carrying 1,950 potential future stop-over visitors.

Authorities suggest that some 18 further cruise liners will call over the following fortnight. The vessels could bring close to 29,000 passengers. This puts the total amount of cruise arrivals to nearly 50,000 for February.
