Colin McBeath has been named as the new General Manager of the Mayfair Hotel & Spa in Coconut Grove, FL. Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, the San Francisco-based hotel operator that will relaunch the hotel upon the completion of $10 million in renovations, hired McBeath to oversee the resurgence of the historic hotel property.“Colin is the ideal candidate to lead the hotel as it undergoes a major
renovation and joins the Kimpton family of lifestyle hotels,” commented Tom
LaTour, chairman and CEO of Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants. “He has been with
Kimpton for almost five years and knows how we operate and what makes our
brand unique. He will do a fine job at bringing our five brand pillars -
care, comfort, style, flavor and fun - to our flagship property in South
Florida.”

Vancouver, also a Kimpton hotel. Additionally, he has played a significant
role at three other east coast hotel openings for the brand including the
Onyx Hotel in Boston, 70 Park Avenue in New York and Hotel Helix in
Washington.
“I was at the Hotel Monaco D.C. for the grand opening after it underwent a
major overhaul that transformed a 180-year-old former Post Office to an
historic four star hotel, and I look forward to bringing that expertise and
experience to the rebirth of the Mayfair,” commented McBeath. “There is a
great team of people in place here and with the support of the Kimpton name,
I am confident the hotel will quickly regain its place in Coconut Grove,
which is a destination rising fast in popularity.”
McBeath’s responsibilities at the Mayfair Hotel & Spa will include assisting
in the reconception of the hotel’s image and its market positioning,
overseeing all sales and marketing initiatives, acting as a liaison with the
local Chambers of Commerce and other city organizations, overseeing all
revenue management programs and hiring necessary department heads and
personnel.
McBeath has 17 years of experience in the hospitality industry and has held
upper-level management positions in the United States, Thailand and Taiwan
including two years as the General Manager of The Ritz Tapei Hotel in
Taiwan. He studied at Langara College and specialized in Hotel Management
Development at the University of Guelph, both in Canada. He has completed
continuing education courses in leadership and management at Canadian
Airlines International, Radisson Hotels International and Canadian Pacific
