Bolongo Beach, USVI, raises US$31000 for tsunami relief effort

Bolongo Bay Beach Club’s Beach House Restaurant in St. Thomas raised US$31,000 during a fundraiser held earlier in the month to aid victims of the recent tsunami in Southeast Asia. All profits from ticket sales and 100 percent of the revenue generated by a raffle and silent auction held during the event will be split evenly between the Tsunami Relief Fund of the American Red Cross and Oxfam America International.Approximately 200 people attended the fundraiser dinner where Bolongo’s Chef Ric Ade prepared an exciting menu of savory culinary specialties from Thailand and India.Ê The Bolongo Beach House provided its entire restaurant space for the fundraiser.

“We’re extremely pleased with the amount of money raised in such a short time for this worthwhile cause. We extend our deepest gratitude to the local vendors who donated the majority of the food and beverage products and to those who contributed prizes and opened up their wallets to make the fundraiser a success,” said Richard J. Doumeng, general manager of Bolongo Bay Beach Club.

“Organizing an event of this nature takes a tremendous amount of work.Ê None of this would have been possible without the dedication and support of our staff who graciously worked for free setting-up the event and working the fundraiser itself so everything would run smoothly. They even donated their tips. This is a testament to our staff’s generous spirit,” Doumeng added.
