BearCom Installs Wireless Solution to Upgrade Airport Security

BearCom Wireless Worldwide  announced today their completion of a comprehensive upgrade to the CCTV surveillance
system at Brazoria County Airport in Angleton, Texas. The airport is located just south of the Houston metropolitan area. BearCom was selected
for the installation due to their technical expertise in the wireless
solution arena.

BearCom selected Motorola’s Canopy to connect cameras in all critical
areas of the airport to a state-of-the-art digital monitoring station at
the main administrative building. Canopy provides wireless connection of
IP cameras to a central station monitoring environment, and was selected
by BearCom because of its robust ability to handle both data and video
over IP.

On-Net Surveillance System’s NetDVR software was selected by BearCom to
seamlessly integrate and display the incoming video feeds. This software
application provides motion detection and alarm capabilities, instant
rewind and review of the current day’s activity, and archiving of weeks of
video on a workstation prepared and configured by BearCom’s in-house IT
technicians. “All of the benefits provided by NetDVR software made it the
ideal software application for this project,” stated Alan Lambert,
BearCom’s account executive for the Brazoria Airport project.

Motorola’s Canopy allowed for flexibility and ease of deployment and
allowed BearCom to provide a rapid upgrade to the surveillance systems at
the airport without extensive and expensive cabling because of its
wireless infrastructure.

The second phase of the project has also been completed and includes a
10-mile Canopy backhaul link to a police monitoring center. Combined with
additional software from On-Net, this solution provides video monitoring
surveillance of critical or suspicious activity and makes it available to
law enforcement personnel on a real-time basis. Overall, this phase gave
Brazoria the ability to monitor their facilities after standard operating
hours.
