Carlson to Manage New Hotel in Shanghai

Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific is adding another property to its fast growing operations in China, the Radisson Hotel Shanghai New World.
Owned by Shanghai New World Project Management Company, the 45-storey hotel is scheduled to open in May 2005. The 520-room hotel will join two other Radisson hotels serving travellers in Shanghai, the Radisson Plaza Xing Guo Hotel Shanghai and the Radisson SAS Lansheng Hotel.

President and managing director for Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific, Paul Kirwin, said, “As a major regional gateway city and the economic capital of China, Shanghai’s demand for quality accommodation continues to grow, as is evidenced by the success of our two existing Radisson hotels.

“We are very pleased to be working with Shanghai New World Project Management Company as our partner on this project. The New World hotel and retail complex will become an icon in the Shanghai skyline. When the Radisson Hotel Shanghai New World opens, it will be the largest hotel in China under Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific management,” Mr. Kirwin said.

Located on the commercial Nanjing Road, adjacent to the People’s Square, the newest Radisson will offer guests a host of on-site conveniences, including Chinese and Western restaurants, a multi-function room for 350 people, fitness centre, indoor swimming pool and spa. The hotel will be topped with a revolving restaurant and sky bar, offering magnificent panoramic views of the city.

In an adjoining nine-storey annex, there will be meeting facilities with eight meeting rooms for 10-30 people, as well as a comprehensive business centre on the second floor incorporating two meeting rooms and four computer work stations, making the hotel particularly well suited for business travellers. Guests will enjoy comfortable, well-appointed rooms with quality finishes and international standard facilities.
