For the eighth consecutive year,
Marriott International, Inc. has been recognized by FORTUNE magazine as
one of the “100 Best Companies to Work For.” Marriott ranked first among
companies with 100,000 or more employees, and is the only U.S.- based
lodging company on the list. Marriott is also on FORTUNE’s “hall of fame”
list of 22 companies that have appeared on every list since 1998. FORTUNE noted Marriott’s employee recognition programs, highlighting the
company’s highest form of recognition, the J. Willard Marriott Award of
Excellence. This annual award recognizes employees worldwide who have
demonstrated achievement, character, dedication, ideals, effort and
perseverance in their jobs.

“We are very proud to be named to this prestigious award for the eighth
time. Having Fortune specifically cite Marriott’s recognition programs
confirms that we take great pride in our outstanding employees who deliver
exceptional customer service every day around the world,” said Brendan
Keegan, executive vice president, human resources, Marriott International.

“The 100 Best Companies to Work For” list is compiled for FORTUNE by
Robert Levering and Milton Moskowitz of the Great Place to Work Institute
in San Francisco, and is based on two criteria: an evaluation of the
policies and culture of each company and the opinions of the company’s
employees. Companies are scored in four areas: credibility (communication
to employees), respect (opportunities and benefits), fairness
(compensation and diversity), and pride/camaraderie (philanthropy and
celebrations).
