The Hawthorn Suites Golf Resort
at Carter Plantation has opened in Springfield, La., less than one hour from
New Orleans and 30 minutes from Baton Rouge.  This is the third property to
represent the upper-end lodging concept known as Hawthorn Suites Golf Resorts,
ideal for business travelers who want to combine a golf and meeting or
conference retreat experience.  Additional properties are located in Conyers,
Ga. and Wadsworth, Ill.“We’re excited about our new relationship with Hawthorn Suites Golf
Resorts hotels,” said Maher.  “Hawthorn Suites will help to grow our golf and
meeting business, and also the tourism industry in our community.”
  The Hawthorn Suites Golf Resort at Carter Plantation features 63 spacious
studio, one- and two-bedroom suites in nine resort-like villas overlooking the
ninth fairway of the new David Toms-designed 7,000-plus yard par-72 golf
course at Carter Plantation.  There are seven suites in each villa, with
accommodations adaptable for almost any type of stay.
  Standard in-suite amenities include extended cable TV with movie channel
and DVD player, dual line telephones with data ports and complimentary high
speed Internet access, work desk with ergonomic chair, microwave oven,
refrigerator, and plush robes and slippers.  The majority of suites feature a
veranda or balcony with fairway views, and many offer a fully-equipped
kitchen, living and dining room.  Nightly turndown service, special in-suite
catering and room service are available.
  Guests at Hawthorn Suites Golf Resort enjoy complimentary, daily, hot
Plantation breakfast and social receptions during the week.  They can also
take advantage of a full service restaurant and the Carter Plantation Pavilion
with 30,000 square feet of dining, meeting and event space, and a full
business center for corporate guests.  In spring 2005, Carter Plantation will
add a full-service spa, fitness center and outdoor swimming pool.  The Carter
Plantation community also offers residential homesites.
  Several “Stay and Play” golf packages are available that include green
fees, cart rental, use of the practice range and unlimited range balls.  The
Plantation Dining Room offers special events throughout the year including
