VARIG Selects Clarity MIDT Solution

Shepherd Systems and VARIG Brazilian Airlines
have announced a multi-year agreement that provides VARIG Brazilian Airlines with Shepherd Systems’ newest Market Information Data Transfer (MIDT) solution, Clarity.  Clarity enables clients to better understand market dynamics and assists with critical network and sales planning decisions by utilizing MIDT data with detailed, accurate, timely, and affordable market intelligence.

Clarity minimizes expenses for airlines by providing a more cost-effective method to access essential MIDT data.  Shepherd has further enhanced the offering by streamlining MIDT data from the major Global Distribution Systems.  By monitoring trends and future projections, Clarity helps airlines identify new revenue opportunities, increase revenue from existing markets and accounts, create market share goals for certain key markets in travel agent incentive programs, and identify agents most likely to book new routes before the route starts.  This information can then be displayed in an array of customizable, intuitive and easy-to-understand reports.

With online accessibility eliminating the need for airlines to acquire and maintain costly hardware or software for implementation, Clarity can be used effectively throughout different departments and across multiple functions of an airline.  In addition, Clarity is extremely user-friendly, as it was designed to be quickly and efficiently understood by a first-time MIDT user.

“Convenient access to market intelligence will ultimately enable our sales force to more effectively target the highest yielding business opportunities - allowing us to more appropriately focus our energies,” said Marcelo Bottini, director of VARIG Brazilian Airlines.  “During our extensive search for an ideal MIDT solution for our airline, Clarity simply stood out as the best fit for us, not only from a sales perspective, but also for viewing current market opportunities when planning new routes and more accurately measuring travel agency incentive agreements.”

“When we created Clarity, we spent considerable time researching exactly what an airline needs to operate more efficiently, and we are confident that Clarity will enable VARIG Brazilian Airlines to accomplish their business goals more effectively,” said Flo Lugli, senior vice president of Airline Solutions for Cendant’s Travel Distribution Services and general manager, Shepherd Systems.
