Countdown is underway for the opening this autumn of a new resort at Jebel Dhanna, 240km west of Abu Dhabi city, the first move in the development of the area as a major tourism destination.
The 109-room five-star Danat Resort Jebel Dhanna will be owned and operated by the National Corporation for Tourism & Hotels (NCT&H), one of two government-backed organisations in the capital aiming to position Abu Dhabi as an international resort of the future.
The Danat Resort Jebel Dhanna is located near the Ruwais township 240 kms west of the Abu Dhabi City.
The corporation already operates hotels in Dhafra, Liwa, Mirfa and Mafraq - and also owns the two InterContinental Hotels in the emirate - but the launch of the new resort marks a new phase in its development with the addition of the upscale property.
According to a NCT&H spokesperson, the resort complements the corporation’s existing network of properties in Abu Dhabi emirate, as well as offering top-of-the-range facilities to attract sectors such as the conference and incentive markets to the west coast for the first time.
Features of the resort include a pristine sand beach stretching for one kilometre plus a full range of beach and water sports, as well as two floodlit tennis courts, a par-36 nine hole sand golf course and a driving range, children’s club, extensive banqueting and meeting rooms catering for up to 1,000 guests, the Body and Soul Health Club, Arabic and bistro restaurants and a C-View café, and six waterfront villas.
Fish, dive and drive safaris are available as well as exclusive tours of the Sir Bani Yas wildlife reserve island, located just 9km off the coast.
Room amenities range from individually-controlled air-conditioning to satellite television, safe and hairdryer, and all the usual five-star comforts.
The National Corporation for Tourism & Hotels (NCT&H) was formed in 1996 in response to the need to develop both tourism and commerce in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), especially Abu Dhabi.
The Corporation was formed as a semi-government organisation. NCT&H’s primary objective is to promote Abu Dhabi as an international destination, supervise and manage hotels and provide transportation and catering services.
