America West and Workers Reach Tentative Agreement

America West Airlines announced it has reached a tentative agreement with the Transport Workers
Union for a new contract with the airline’s dispatchers. This is the
second tentative agreement reached with the TWU; the airline’s dispatchers
rejected the first agreement earlier this year. The new tentative
agreement is subject to ratification by TWU membership, and results of
that process could come as early as Sept. 10, 2004. Terms of the
agreement, which would run through April 1, 2008, were not disclosed.
America West Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Doug Parker said, “We
are pleased to have reached a second tentative agreement with TWU, and are
hopeful our dispatch team will move quickly to ratify this new agreement.
Our dispatch team represents some of the finest safety and reliability
experts in our industry and they play a critical role in helping us run a
great airline.”
