The Federation of Tour Operators has elected Ian Ailles, Managing Director, Specialist Businesses for Thomas Cook UK & Ireland, as Chairman of the Federation at the FTO Group meeting on 7th July.Martin Brackenbury, who has chaired the FTO since 1987, decided a year ago to hand over the FTO role, but will continue as President of IFTO (International Federation of Tour Operators), and maintains his close links with the FTO. 

Ian was appointed Managing Director, Specialist Businesses, in February 2003, prior to which he was Group Finance Director, Thomas Cook UK Ltd.  In Ian’s current role he has a seat on the board of Thomas Cook UK & Ireland, and is responsible for the management of a portfolio of specialist businesses including Thomas Cook Signature, Neilson, Style Holidays, Sunworld Ireland, Club 18-30, Roomsandhotels.com and Cultura.

Ian also has responsibility for operations, IT, out-sourcing and procurement at Thomas Cook UK and on an international level, he has a seat on the Board of Thomas Cook India Limited.
