AirAsia Expands Indonesian Services

AirAsia is improving its network to several key tourist destinations in Indonesia; Bali and Medan. Come 5th August 2004, AirAsia will connect Kuala Lumpur to the exotic island of Bali. The highly anticipated Kuala Lumpur - Bali service is expected to bring forth a wealth of tourists to the quaint Indonesian resort island. In addition, AirAsia will also be introducing a direct service between Kuala Lumpur and Medan on 27th August 2004. AirAsia’s low fares for Bali and Medan are as follows:-
Kuala Lumpur - Bali from RM 99.99 / Rp 248.999 one way
Kuala Lumpur - Medan from RM 79.99 / Rp 199.999 one way

Fares quoted are one way and exclude airport taxes and fees.

Tony Fernandes, Group Chief Executive Officer, AirAsia Berhad, said, “We have certainly grown considerably since the beginning of this year. Our expansion in Indonesia is timely, as we aim to remain as a dominant low fare player in the region. As such it comes as no surprise that we announce our services to Bali and Medan, two of the most exciting hot spots in Indonesia, in order to further enhance our connectivity with the Indonesian market. Our low fares will enable holiday makers in Indonesia to extend their holiday and come to Malaysia, similar to how we have encouraged an influx of travelers from Phuket and Bangkok to take advantage of our low fare flights to Kuala Lumpur and extend their holiday in Malaysia.”

Seats for the new Kuala Lumpur - Bali flight have been available for sale since 1st July 2004, while the Kuala Lumpur - Medan sector opens for sale today, 9th July 2004.

A second daily flight connecting Kuala Lumpur to Jakarta will be introduced on 27th August 2004, following the successful launch of the airline’s direct Kuala Lumpur- Jakarta flight on 2nd July.
