Counterpart welcome Carol A. George

Barbadian journalist and communications specialist Carol A. George is the latest addition to the Counterpart International team assembling in St. Lucia for the sixth Caribbean Media Exchange on Sustainable Tourism (CMEx).

Ms. George, a former Information Officer attached to Prime Minister of Barbados Owen Arthur, is on summer break from her Masters programme in Communication and Development Studies at Ohio University, where she was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship.

Carol was part of the team for the CMEx V Conference in her home country last December.

“It is an honour to be affiliated with Counterpart, inarguably one of the leading development organisations in this area, ” she said. “I welcome the opportunity to learn from the talented professionals whose work it is to serve others. I also anticipate the opportunity to gain some practical knowledge about the development field as well as Counterpart’s outstanding role in this sphere.”

Ms. George is a former print journalist of six years, and in 1997 was one of four journalists awarded the United Nations Dag Hammarskjöld Memorial Fellowship, where she had the pleasure of meeting and working with Counterpart International president Lelei LeLaulu who at the time was an advisor to the Secretary General of the United Nations.
