Mercure Leura Blue Mountains Resort Sold
Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels is delighted to announce the sale of the Mercure Leura Blue Mountains Resort to Doherty Hotels. Mr Geordie Clark, Managing Director, Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels brokered the $6.5 million sale of the popular resort in an off-market deal.
The 81 room 3.5 star resort is located in the picturesque township of Leura in the Blue Mountains. As well as accommodation, the property also incorporates food and beverage, conference and recreational facilities. “Doherty Hotels plans to upgrade the property by refurbishing all guestrooms to a 4.5 star standard and constructing a new conference facility and health spa”, said Mr Clark.
Resort properties such as this in the outer Sydney regions are always keenly sought after. “Doherty Hotels recognised that there is limited choice for moderately priced accommodation for weekend getaways and the conference market,” said Mr Clark.
Reportedly, Doherty Hotels has identified a number of other properties that are of interest to the expanding group. “Doherty Hotels has been successful in building a well known and popular brand name in Tasmania and Victoria. Their acquisition of a landmark property in the Blue Mountains is an ideal entry and a strategic investment for brand exposure in NSW,” said Mr Clark.
