American Airlines to Sponsor Corporate Challenge

On your mark, get set, GO! For
the 15th year, American Airlines will serve as a national corporate
sponsor of the 23rd annual JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge, a 3.5-mile
race through Chicago’s Grant Park. This year’s race is scheduled for 7
p.m., Thursday, June 3, and will benefit the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago.
“The YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago provides vital services to our local
community, such as mentoring and after-school programs for children, job
training for adults, and fitness programs for all ages,” said Pam
Schroeder, American’s manager of employee programs at Chicago O’Hare
International Airport. “This race offers American Airlines and its
employees the opportunity to pull together in a fun and positive way to
help the YMCA reach its goals.”

Last year, American Airlines flight attendant Anette Ronnerman won the
JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge race in Chicago with a time of 20
minutes, 33 seconds. Remarkably, she crossed the finish line exactly one
hour before she was due at Chicago O’Hare to begin prepping for her
scheduled flight to London. Ronnerman has won the Chicago race three times
and will compete again tomorrow.

Ronnerman also won the race in Dallas last year and qualified to compete
in the JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge finals held in New York City.
Her coed team of American employees placed third against other top
corporate coed teams from around the world.

“Running is one of my favorite hobbies,” said Ronnerman. “Each year, I
compete in this race because it’s a quick and fun way to share something I
love with my fellow employees.”

The JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge is a popular event for American
employees across the country, and each year more than 25 local employees
participate in the Chicago race.
