Microtel Named ‘Best Budget Hotel Chain’

Microtel Inns & Suites has been named
the ‘Best Budget Hotel Chain’ in Entrepreneur’s April 2004 issue. The
brand captured the Number-One spot for the second time in the
publication’s ‘Annual Business Travel Awards.’ “Microtel continues to lead the budget hotel segment in meeting the needs
of both business and leisure travelers,” said Mike Leven, CEO and
president of US Franchise Systems, Inc. (USFS), parent company of the
franchisor of the Microtel Inns & Suites brand. “To that end, Microtel
will soon raise the bar on the scope of value and amenities that hotels
offer guests. All our properties will provide free local and free long
distance phone calls, and free wireless high speed Internet access in
every guest room by the end of this year.”

As one of the fastest growing chains, Microtel Inns & Suites are all
newly-constructed, interior corridor, budget/economy hotels with single,
double and suite accommodations. All hotels offer complimentary
continental breakfast, and members of the free MicroPass(TM) frequent
guest program earn a free night’s stay after just nine night stays at any
Microtel Inns & Suites location.

In addition, for the second consecutive year, Microtel has been ranked
highest in guest satisfaction among economy/budget hotel chains by J.D.
Power and Associates’ prestigious ‘North American Hotel Guest Satisfaction
Study.’ As of March 31, 2004, there were 269 Microtels open or under
construction worldwide. For reservations, contact 1-888-771-7171

Entrepreneur’s ‘Annual Business Travel Awards’ helps readers choose those
travel suppliers that provide the best products or services for business
owners, and at an affordable price. Now in its 11th year, the program is
not a formal or scientific survey, but rather a subjective selection of
those the publication believes to offer the most to value-driven business.
For more than 25 years, Entrepreneur has been the leading authority
dedicated to empowering entrepreneurs worldwide to start and grow
successful companies. More than two million readers turn to Entrepreneur
every month for cutting- edge ideas to help them grow and improve their
businesses.

US Franchise Systems, Inc. is headquartered in Atlanta, Ga. In November
2000, business interests of the Pritzker family of Chicago, Ill., which
also own other hospitality businesses and assets, including Hyatt Hotels,
as well as numerous manufacturing, health-care, natural resources and
other businesses and assets, recognized USFS’ potential and acquired the
company.
