Puerto Rico Convention Bureau awards first prize

Kathleen Geibert is a winner.  After delivering a qualified lead for the Puerto Rico Convention Center, Geibert received a free tour in February of the new Convention Center and capital city.  Her prize included a helicopter ride over the construction site, nearby beaches and Old San Juan.
Geibert, conference director, American Society of Echocardiography “Puerto Rico is a beautiful Island, where the weather is perfect, and the people are warm and friendly,” she says.  “The hotels I sited were fabulous, and the Puerto Rico Convention Center is a spectacular site to see.”

(ASE), Raleigh, N.C., is the first meeting planner to win the high-end “Trip to San Juan” contest.  The campaign, sponsored by the Puerto Rico Convention Bureau, will award trips to the first 15 meeting planners who deliver qualified leads for the new Convention Center.  The prize includes complimentary round-trip airfare to San Juan; first-class accommodations; grand tours of the new Convention Center site and Old San Juan; dinner at a premier San Juan restaurant; tour of El Yunque Rainforest or Rio Camuy Cave Park, and helicopter ride over the new Convention Center construction site and surrounding San Juan neighborhoods.

Geibert’s lead was for the ASE conference, June, 2009.  The event is expected to attract 3,000 attendees, representing 4,775 room nights, for an estimated economic impact of $1.6 million.
