Galileo Signs P&O Business Travel

Galileo International
today announced that they have become the GDS provider for
P&O Business Travel in the UK, as part of a 5 year deal which sees them move from their existing GDS, Sabre. P&O Business Travel will work with Galileo to develop a fully integrated enterprise solution, designed to allow P&O Business Travel to deliver the greatest value to its customers.

Galileo’s standard front-office point of sale solution will provide P&O Business Travel with single screen access to published, private and web fares in an integrated booking process.

Galileo’s highly flexible mid-office architecture will allow P&O Business Travel to offer clients multi-channel booking capability, ensuring it can find the best fare for a trip every time, regardless of distribution channel.

The Galileo designed system will provide additional benefits to both P&O Business Travel and their customers through enhanced productivity and improved tailoring of client trips via a centralised client profile database. In addition P&O Business Travel will be able to provide more flexibility to its clients charging structures through a state of the art service fee engine.

Alan Coles, managing director of P&O Business Travel, says: “One of the key drivers behind our move to Galileo was their understanding of our business and their partnership approach to developing this solution. The deal we have signed with Galileo will both speed up and significantly enhance the range of services we can offer our clients. The only difference clients will notice during the switch-over is that our service gets even better.”

Alison Bell, Regional Director Cendant Travel Distribution Services said: ” I am absolutely delighted to have finalised such a significant agreement with P&O Business Travel and am really looking forward to working closely with them in the future. The scale of this agreement is indicative of the way in which Galileo is taking advantage of Cendant’s overall proposition to deliver its customers truly long term benefits and I believe Galileo is uniquely positioned to help P&O Business Travel meet their business objectives for many years to come.”
In response to these recent negotiations, David Brown, director for the UK, Ireland and the Nordic region, Sabre Travel Network commented: “We are disappointed to be losing P&O and we will be doing everything we
can
to win back the business.

“Galileo is playing this up because this is the first piece of non-Cendant
UK business it has ever won from Sabre Travel Network.  By contrast, over
the past two years we have converted nine significant businesses from
Galileo, most recently the Business Travel Partnership and JTB.

“We expect to announce further significant conversions from Galileo
shortly,
and look forward to these attracting the same level of media interest.”
