There have been reports that the Sandals group will merge two of its Ocho Rios resorts, situated in Jamaica. The resorts to be merged are named as Sandals Ocho Rios and the Grande Sport Villa Golf Resort & Spa. This will result in a 522-room Sandals Grande Ocho Rios Beach & Villa Resort, penned to open in December.Sandals Ocho Rios, which is situated directly on the beach, will remain open during the transition whilst the Grand Sport will close May 1. During its closure a US$10 Million refurbishment will take place.

“Butch” Stewart, chairman of Sandals and Beaches Resorts, said the joining of the two properties “is a direct response to market demands”.

The new super-property will be tagged Sandals Grande and will receive a new pool.
