Hilton International has today announced plans to roll out a franchise opportunity for the mid market Scandic brand and the four/five star Hilton brand.
The announcement, made in Cannes at The International Property Market (MPIM), the world’s leading international real estate event, states that this strategic initiative will allow Hilton to develop their hotel portfolio faster in chosen markets including those not currently served by Hilton International.
Franchisees will benefit from the acknowledged strengths of both brands including reservations and distribution systems, marketing and the highly successful Hilton Hhonors® loyalty program.
Over the past year, Hilton International has developed a franchise business model with the help of its US Alliance partner Hilton Hotels Corporation (HHC), who currently operate nearly 2,000 franchised hotels.
David Michels, Hilton Group Chief Executive, said: “Hilton International recognises the opportunity offered by franchising. It will allow us to further increase our brand exposure and give franchisees the benefits which flow from our global network and the advantages of being associated with our brands.”
Deepak Seth, Hilton International Development Director, added: “We are keen to tell the market we now franchise the Hilton and Scandic brands in key locations throughout the world. Our aim is to grow the business and identify key partners who want to be a part of the Hilton and Scandic success.”
Hilton International (HI), an operating division of the UK based Hilton Group plc, owns the rights to the Hilton brand name throughout the world, with the exception of North America. HI operates over 400 hotels, with some 250 branded Hilton, nearly 140 under the mid-market Scandic brand plus 15 luxury Conrad hotels, under a joint venture agreement with Hilton Hotels Corporation (HHC). Hilton International Grand Vacations Club (HIGVC) operates 176 time ownership properties in Egypt and Scotland. Hilton International employs over 65,000 staff in over 70 countries. A global marketing alliance between Hilton International and the North American based Hilton Hotels Corporation, extends the number of hotels operated by both companies worldwide to over 2,400 over 500 of which are branded Hilton. Committed to doing business in a responsible way, Hilton International’s aim is to bring a positive benefit to the societies in which it operates through high quality services, economic growth, environmental protection, community involvement and employment.
To date, Hilton International’s franchise experience has been limited to The Caribbean (Coral by Hilton 4 hotels) and India (Trident by Hilton, 9 hotels) and several Scandic properties in Norway.
