Camelback Inn Resort Becomes a JW Marriott

Marriott International, Inc. announced today that Marriott’s Camelback Inn
Resort, Golf Club & Spa has joined the world-class collection of
distinctive JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts. Catering to discerning travelers
around the world, JW Marriott properties are the most distinctive and
elegant hotels and resorts carrying the Marriott name.
“Marriott’s Camelback Inn is one of the most unique and award-winning
resorts in the country and offers a one-of-a-kind experience,” said Wynn
Tyner, general manager, Marriott’s Camelback Inn. “The JW Marriott name
reinforces the resort’s status as one of Marriott’s most luxurious
properties, and with the recent renovation of the Spa, this will continue
to be a premier destination for both group and leisure travelers.”

Originally opened in 1936, Camelback Inn has a distinguished history,
having hosted many Hollywood legends, presidents and guests who have
returned year after year for generations. The property is also one of only
three resorts in the country to remain on AAA’s coveted Five Diamond list
since the award’s inception 28 years ago. Marriott acquired Camelback Inn
in 1967, and the resort maintains its authentic adobe style with 453
oversized casita guest rooms and suites with refrigerator, microwave,
wet-bar, mini-bar, private entrances, garden patios and balconies. Several
deluxe suites provide private swimming pools.

Following a comprehensive $8 million renovation, The Spa at Camelback Inn
reopened its doors on November 17, 2003. The 32,000-square-foot sanctuary
features a distinctive Southwestern design and a full complement of spa
offerings, including state-of-the-art fitness center, 32 treatment rooms,
spa pool and Scottsdale’s only spa restaurant, Sprouts. Desert inspired
treatments include the Adobe Clay Purification Treatment, inspired by the
ancient healing rituals of the Native American culture, and the “Healing
Drum Circle,” which combines an outdoor sunset ritual with the repetitive,
rhythmic beating of a native drum to create awareness of self and inner
peace.

Camelback Inn also offers 40,000 square feet of meeting space, 36 holes of
championship golf, six tennis courts, three pools and seven restaurants
and lounges.

JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts embody “comfortable luxury” with understated
elegance and gracious, attentive, personal service. Brand hallmarks
include distinctive architectural and interior features, spacious guest
rooms with luxurious appointments, unique restaurants and lounges, premium
fitness centers and enhanced services, including 24-hour room service,
nightly turndown and upgraded bath amenities.
