Alamo and National Upgrade to Worldspan Car Source

Worldspan today announced that Alamo Rent A Car and National Car Rental have upgraded to Worldspan Car Source, the highest level of connectivity in the Worldspan global distribution system. In Car Source, availability requests are routed directly to the car rental company’s reservations system, providing Worldspan users with up-to-the-minute availability, rates and rules in an interactive booking environment. Car Source also provides complete information on one-way rates, applicable corporate discounts, packages, promotions and special equipment, all with the initial request.

“Upgrading to Car Source strengthens our position not only among travel agencies, but also among Worldspan-powered leisure travel Web sites and in the corporate online channel-key markets for Alamo and National respectively,” said William Lobeck, President and CEO of Vanguard Car Rental USA Inc. “Car Source is an excellent option for us, and will make booking Alamo and National products faster and easier for our customers.”

Vanguard Car Rental USA Inc. owns and operates car rental brands Alamo Rent A Car and National Car Rental.  Together, the Alamo and National brands make up one of the world’s largest car rental companies, with annual revenue of $2.4 billion in 2002. Headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the worldwide organisation employs more than 14,000 associates, has more than 3,200 hundred locations in 83 countries, and serves customers with a fleet of more than 217,000 automobiles.

“Worldspan Car Source enhances the car booking process for suppliers and Worldspan users across multiple channels, and we are very pleased Alamo and National have selected our premier level of connectivity,” commented Graham Nichols, Worldspan vice president and general manager EMEAA. “The list of Car Source participants continues to grow - a powerful endorsement that this seamless solution offers car rental companies a more efficient and effective way to distribute their products and services.”
