Sabre Airline Solutions Acquires EDS’ axsResource

Sabre Airline Solutions
announced today the company has acquired EDS’ axsResource Airport Resource Management Solutions product line. The addition of these new capabilities, furthered by the company’s travel and transportation market alliance with EDS, broadens Sabre Airlines Solutions’ already comprehensive Airport Resource Management System suite of airport resource planning and management tools offered to airlines and ground handlers worldwide. Previously, axsResource was offered through Atraxis, the assets of which EDS acquired from Swissair Group’s IT subsidiary in November 2001. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“This is an important acquisition for our customers and for Sabre Airline Solutions,” said Tom Klein, president, Sabre Airline Solutions. “By adding the axsResource capabilities, we can better help airlines and ground handlers reduce airport handling costs through more efficient planning, administration and deployment of personnel. We are also fulfilling our mission to help airlines succeed by offering technology, products and services to address the issues that are key to their challenges in the current market.”

This acquisition came about as a result of the partnering relationship Sabre Holdings and EDS forged in 2001 that enhanced Sabre Airline Solutions’ position as the leader in airline applications development and management, and EDS’ position as the premier provider of IT services for the air travel marketplace. Under the partnership, the two companies have been jointly marketing technology solutions and products and services for the worldwide airline industry.

“The integration of the axsResource tools fit well with our commitment to offer proven solutions to our customers,” Klein continued. “We build our offerings on a foundation of high performing and secure technology and solutions that offer solid return on investment for the airlines we serve.”
