Work Begins on New Regent Hotel, Spa & Residences

Demolition and site work, the first step in the construction of the new Regent Winter Park Hotel, Spa & Residences in Winter Park, Fla., is now well underway, according to Langford Development, LLC, developers of the hotel and luxury residence complex.

Demolition crews have begun removing sections of the old Langford Hotel, which closed in 1999. As construction will preserve portion of the historic Langford Hotel, all but the steel superstructure from the west wing of the Langford will be demolished as part of what is expected to become Central Florida`s most luxurious hotel and residential project.

“We expect to start building on The Regent Hotel, Spa & Residences by spring, 2003. The first phase will include building the underground parking and the service corridors beneath the hotel and residences,” said Mark Ellert, President, Aztec Leisure Corp., whose company is one of the development partners.

The Regent Winter Park Hotel, Spa & Residences is being developed in downtown Winter Park on the site of the historic Langford Hotel. The Regent Winter Park Hotel, Spa & Residences will include a five-star, 110-room hotel with 37 condominium hotel suites and a 20,000 sq-ft spa. An adjacent building will house 23 luxury condominium residences.

“Winter Park has a history of grand hotels dating back to the city`s founding,” notes Jim Heistand of Orlando-based Capital Partners, co-developer of hotel. “The Regent Winter Park is going to set a new lifestyle and leisure standard for Central Florida and in particular, Winter Park. We are proud to carry this tradition forward.”
