Birmingham Airport runway closed following accident

Passengers at Birmingham Airport are experiencing delays after a plane skidded off the runway.

The runway at the airport has been closed, with accident investigators at the scene.

Monarch charter flight ZB467, arriving from Nice in France, skidded off the runway shortly after 13:00 today.

The airport told the BBC all flights were suspended and “airfield services” were assisting the airline crew.

The flight was operate by Air Aurela.

Last month, about 150 passengers were left stranded in Tenerife for two days after an Air Aurela flight, chartered by Monarch, had technical problems.
