Abacus inks deal with Lao Airlines to boost Indochina presence

Abacus International and Lao Airlines have confirmed the signing of a joint venture agreement, adding another significant milestone to Abacus’ presence in Asia Pacific.

The newly penned deal will see Abacus and Lao Airlines partnering for at least ten years through to May 2021, with an option to renew for another five years.

The agreement will see the launch of Lao Abacus National Marketing Company (NMC) with joint share-holding, to provide a global distribution system for travel companies and travel agents in Laos.

Abacus-connected travel agents will exclusively have access to Lao Airlines’ database of full range of air fares.

Content from Lao Airlines will be added to Abacus’ unparalleled amount of fares, services and offerings of airlines, hotel properties and car rental companies.

Abacus will also give Lao Airlines greater access to business and leisure travellers across the world and support the airline’s growth strategy in the region.

“Abacus sees Laos as a very important market given its rapid growth and development into the travel hub of IndoChina region,” said Robert Bailey, president of Abacus International.

“We are confident that our experience and commitment to this region will lend to this partnership with the view of increasing Lao Airlines distribution significantly.”

Moving forward, the joint venture partners will be working together on various initiatives that will include road shows and seminars to promote travel with affiliated carriers and showcase Abacus products.
