The State of Zacatecas: A new way to discover Mexico

The State of Zacatecas will participate in World Travel Market (WTM) London in order to continue promoting the destination as a new way to discover Mexico.

From 5th to 7th November, Zacatecas will take part in the World Travel Market (WTM) London 2018. The Ministry of Tourism of the State of Zacatecas will promote the State’s tourist attractions, as well as Guadalupe, its recently declared ‘Magical Town’ and ‘Cerro del Teúl’, its recently opened Archaeological Site.

Zacatecas, the Jewel of Mexico, offers a wide range of 40 tourist attractions suitable for international visitors that represent 40 ways to experience the destination “like a local”.

Zacatecas is ready to surprise a European market which seeks to discover a destination with an incomparable cultural heritage, charming towns, impressive museums and a romantic capital city – also called Zacatecas – which was declared a World Heritage Site 25 years ago and boasts beautiful alleyways and stunning architecture.

In Zacatecas, European visitors will be able to discover six magical towns: Teúl, with its archaeological site and mezcal production; Sombrerete, with its Sierra de Órganos National Park; Nochistlán, with its traditional music; Jeréz, with its lively atmosphere; Pinos, with its mezcal tradition; and the recently named “Magical Town” of Guadalupe, with its great colonial charm. They will also be able to visit different Chichimec archaeological sites, such as La Quemada, in the municipality of Villanueva; Altavista in Chalchihuites; and Cerro del Teúl (recently opened).

Due to its location, right in the geographic centre of Mexico, Zacatecas has easy connections to Mexico City and the USA from its local airport. However, the neighbouring airport in the State of Aguascalientes is just 90 minutes from the capital. From here, you can easily fly from and to Cancún. And less than 2 hours away, you can fly from Del Bajío or San Luis Potosí airports to Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta.

For its visitors, Zacatecas also offers a totally new way to discover Mexico. From Zacatecas, it is easy to take a road trip to the capitals in the north and centre of the country or even to the Riviera Vallarta-Nayarit, which enables you to take a stop in Guadalajara, a little more than 3 hours away from the capital of Zacatecas.

Moreover, Zacatecas is becoming increasingly recognised for its nature tourism. It has developed products and experiences for tourists with the stunning landscapes of the Sierra de Órganos National Park, the Sierra de Cardos in Jeréz, Sierra de Valparaiso and even the landmark Cerro de la Bufa in the city of Zacatecas.

At the 2018 edition of WTM, Zacatecas will hold meetings with agencies and operators who are looking for a fresh and different experience for tourists who wish to visit Mexico and seek a destination that is well connected and can easily be the starting point for a new experience with different options to those that the European market already knows or has seen before.
