Smart Tech Powers Olive Green Hotel, Greece’s First 100% Eco-friendly Venue

Olive Green Hotel in Heraklion, Crete is the first Greece hotel property that incorporates sustainable, eco-friendly accommodation powered by smart technology. The latest innovation envisioned by Karatarakis Hotels SA Company, Olive Green Hotel is the result of transforming an early 1960s property that stood empty, into a hotel experience that has already received brilliant reviews.

The sparkling new hotel offers guests the ideal combination of stylish and minimalist décor, 100% eco-friendly design, and in-room facilities powered by smart technologies. From the bright lobby with warm wood walls and olive green accents to the themed rooms designed to offer tailored experiences, Olive Green is the definition of trend-setting modernism rooted in traditional Cretan hospitality.

Rooms at Olive Green feature QR-coded posters depicting pristine Cretan landscapes, almost all of which within a short distance of the lobby doors. Guests can scan the codes to get the address of the destination, points of interest on the route, and other details to help them make their stay more rewarding and enjoyable.

Guests can also control room lighting, air conditioning, TVs, and other features with the aid of smart tablets. The tablets can also be used to order room service or to post updates on social networks. Lefteris Karatarakis, Karatarakis Hotels SA Company CEO, had this to say about the Olive Green’s sustainability:

“We employed reuse and recycle operational systems that utilize solar panels and other innovative methods that promote sustainable development.”

According to Mr. Karatarakis, the development was scaled for a hotel that aligns nature, tradition, and technology into a harmonious haven for leisure tourists and business travelers alike.  Consequently, Olive Green Hotel is urban and modern, laid-back and elegant, and it retains a subtle air of sophistication throughout.

Inspired by the iconic Cretan olive tree, every aspect of this hotel is geared toward being eco-friendly. From the dining experience at Liotrivi, the guest breakfast area at Olive Green, to the urban café and lounge, 626 All Day Lounge & City Garden, guests and visitors are welcomed for signature coffees, rare sweets and snacks, and the gourmet creations created by renowned Chef Zinonas Christofidis.
